School Board Initiates Strategic Land Purchase

admin - Posted on 30 October 2012

The Oregon City School Board voted 5-2 to initiate the purchase of a 10.543 acre property located near Glen Oak Road because of its long term strategic value to the district. The property is adjacent to Oregon City High School, Clackamas Community College and an undeveloped city park.

The Board also voted to finance the $1.69 million required to purchase the property. Until proceeds from other property sales can be used to pay off the loan, debt payments will be made using proceeds from the Construction Excise Tax, a revenue source dedicated by state law to capital needs. No general funds will be used for the purchase.

For more information, see the Oregon City School Board Special Session presentation (PDF) and additional background information with a map of the property.
