Exchange Outlook Web Access Tutorial

For those that want to just jump right into using the new web access visit https://mail.orecity.k12.or.us/owa/

Basics - Signing in, Reading, Composing, and Changing your Password

  1. Signing In - Visit https://mail.orecity.k12.or.us/owa/  and use the username of firstname.lastname and the password that was in the "Mailbox Migrated" email sent to your old email account (see step 4 to see how to change your password). The new web access is more secure and uses the same technology that banks use for online banking, which is called Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer or HTTPS .  If you are using a newly cloned laptop you will be able to log right on without any issues.  However, if you are not using a newly cloned district laptop you will likely be presented with a security message.  If this happens just go ahead and tell the browser that you trust this resource and proceed to signing in.
  2. Reading Email - Once you are logged into the new web access you will notice that its very similar to the groupwise system and other web based email accounts.  To read new email just click on the Subject of the message and you will be presented with the email contents.   After sending just a few emails everything will likely seem very comfortable and intuitive.
  3. Composing Mail - To compose a new message just click on the "New Message" button.  To send it to a recipient you can just type the email address or to select a name from our directory click on the "To..." link and you will be taken to an address book section where you can select or search for anyone in our district email system.

  4. Changing Your Password - To change the password on your account all you have to do is click on "Options" in the upper right hand corner of the window and then select the "Change Password" link on the left of the page.  At this point just type in your current password and the new password that you want and then click on the "Save" link next to the floppy disk icon.
